Up for review: Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS.  The new Garmin 405 now has a round shape; with a reduced screen size is quite lightweight, and meant to be comfortably worn on your wrist. The new model also supports a wireless configuration to allow you to connect with your computer without the making use of a USB cable.

The Garmin 405 is now available in two color options, sage green and black. The Forerunner 405 has a simple arrangement with only a couple of buttons on the right side of the watch. This Garmin uses a bezel touch screen display for operation, which however takes some time to get used to.

If you’re into running, walking and trekking, you will love the way this new Garmin 405 measures and records your distance, speed, altitude and heart pace. The Forerunner is also powered with a sensitive GPS receiver to cover areas with weak GPS signal reception in heavy foliage or urban canyons.

While this simple unit looks almost like your regular watch which you can wear. This compact device will faithfully keep track of all your exercising maneuvers. The Forerunner 405 is water-resistant (accidental immersion protection) so you can stop worrying about sudden showers. Interestingly, the Forerunner can also supply you with a Virtual Partner if you lack a human training partner.

The Garmin Forerunner405 has been introduced in two different models or configurations – with a (HRM) and without a heart rate monitor. Available as options are the foot pod and bike speed/cadence sensor. In short you will find the following new features in the Forerunner 405

A sleeker design looks stylish and can be comfortable worn on your wrist. You will get this watch in two different colors only- in either black or green.  You no more need wires to get connected. Now you can send data to your computer with a wireless connection, using ANT+Sport technology. Get respite from buttons with the touch-sensitive bezel interface which diminishes the need for buttons.

The Forerunner 405 is more of a training partner, than a navigation device; therefore the map screen found on previous Forerunners has been done away with.

With all its additional new features the Garmin forerunner 405 has been reasonably priced at around$350.
