Garmin Colorado 400T Reviews
Up for review: Garmin Colorado 400T GPS. The Colorado series 400 is available in four different versions. The 400T is the first GPS to support Whereigo (“Where I Go”). It also has an innovative scroll wheel joystick controller, Groundspeak’s latest tweak on Geocaching, a digital compass and altimeter, preloaded World Base Maps, and can be accessorized with a heart rate monitor or a speed and pulse sensor for fitness purposes.
If you are worried about connecting your Colorado to other devices and accessories, then you have a built-in electronic compass, barometer, altimeter, and ANT wireless to do the job for you. The Colorado can dole out pedestrian / automotive GPS services like a Nuvi, a training device like a Forerunner and a picture viewer as well.
The Colorado is pre-loaded with recreational points of interest as well as topographic maps for the entire US. One serious drawback is that the mapping data can only be accessed on the Colorado and not on your computer. However, on the bright side-for map viewing on the Colorado across the full United States, you don’t need to connect to a PC to load maps. The Colorado comes with inbuilt Mapsource software for transmitting geo-caches, tracks, routes, and additional mapping data (acquired separately).
The Colorado400T runs on two AA batteries and includes an SD card slot for storing not only additional maps, but also photographs, Geocaching data, and other files. Finally you can transfer tracks, waypoints, routes, and geocaches with other Colorado units effortlessly without wires! This unit can also be mount on a computer desktop as a storage device, just like a USB drive, to facilitate file transfers.
