The Garmin nuvi 5000 GPS is the widest screen of Nuvi series to date with its 5.2- inch display. The device is just .8-inch thick, and with its slim and easy-to-carry design it offers convenience and flexibility of a portable GPS device. The Garmin nuvi 5000 is principally designed for the RV and truck drivers as the distance windshield of these vehicles needs larger screen for sizeable display.
With its safety features and multi-destination routing the Nuvi 5000 is much similar to Nuvi 700 series. Apart from the large and bright display and sunlight readable features the model enables view map details and play games in bright and brilliant colours. Additionally, features of the nuvi 5000 include MP3 player, a photo viewer, an FM transmitter and maps for all of North America. The FM transmitter enables you get turn-by-turn voice navigation prompts, audio books and MP3s through the stereo of your vehicle.
The preloaded City Navigator NT and the millions of points of interest of the Garmin nuvi 5000 GPS makes navigation easy for the drivers. By entering the name of a destination on the color touchscreen the GPS unit can guide with turn-by-turn voice directions and 2D or 3D maps. The driver doesn’t need to take the attention off the road as the device announces the name of the streets and exits. The navigation extras that are available with Nuvi 5000 which are found on the High-end Nuvis like Nuvi 700 series, but the lower level units don’t feature. The Garmin nuvi 5000 GPS is designed with anti-theft feature, the Garmin Lock. The vehicle icons enables you select the graphics to display the location of your vehicle and the Operational Plug-in SD cards enables you add additional features such as language translation and detailed travel guides. However, the disadvantage of the Garmin nuvi 5000 GPS is it doesn’t include Bluetooth which is essential for hands free cell phone use. The unit also doesn’t have an internal battery.
